in most cases, “excuse me” is the same as “sorry”, in Chinese we say “对(duì)不(bu)起(qǐ)/很(hěn)抱(bào)歉(qiàn)” , but in some different environment, Chinese use different words for excuse me:
- When you are on a train or a bus, there are a lot of people around you and you want to get off, you say “请(qǐng)让(ràng)一(yī)让(ràng)”.
- When you want to disturb others to ask a question, or when you are talking with others and suddenly your phone is ringing, you say “不(bù)好(hǎo)意(yì)思(si)(打(dǎ)扰(rǎo)一(yí)下(xià))”
- If you make something wrong, but you do not mean to do it, e.g. you broke a plate, or you hurt somebody, you say “请(qǐng)原(yuán)谅(liàng)”
