After two days’ learning, now we practice for our learning results. The following video is the weather forecast for on 2009.2.13. First watch it yourself and then look at the explanation after the video.


Some hints: after 47 seconds is the really weather forecast coming. The format of the forecast will be first the city name, then the weather, last is the temperature.

1. The first sentence is useful
晚(wǎn)上(shang)好(hǎo)，欢(huān)迎(yíng)来(lái)到(dào)凤(fèng)凰(huáng)气(qì)象(xiàng)站(zhàn)，我(wǒ)是(shì)XX 

= good evening, welcome to Phoenix Weather Station, I am Yang Jie
(欢(huān)迎(yíng) = welcome; 来(lái)到(dào), the same as 来(lái), means come, 凤(fèng)凰(huáng)= Phoenix , is the name of this weather station; 气(qì)象(xiàng)站(zhàn) = weather station)
So now you could change it to “欢(huān)迎(yíng)来(lái)到(dào)慕(mù)尼(ní)黑(hēi”)（welcome to Munich）

3. Some additional words to help you to understand better
阴(yīn)（天(tiān)）  overcast, also cloudy but not as much cloud as 多(duō)云(yún)


多(duō)云(yún)   Cloudy


小(xiǎo)雨(yǔ)   drizzle


中(zhōng)雨(yǔ)   not so heavy and not so little rain, just in the middle


大(dà)雨(yǔ) pour/downpour


阵(zhèn)雨(yǔ) shower


晴(qíng)（天(tiān)） sunning


小(xiǎo)雪(xuě) light snow


大(dà)雪(xuě) heavy Snow

• 零(líng)下(xià)1度(dù)到(dào)8度(dù)

     （零(líng)= zero, 下(xià) down, together means the number is below zero, minus; 到(dào) = to or until, 度(dù) = degree）

• We also use 转(zhuǎn) to describe the changes:

       e.g. cloudy to overcast 阴(yīn)转(zhuǎn)多云(duōyún)

• 升(shēng)温(wēn) and 降(jiàng)温(wēn) 

       Here 升(shēng) = raise, 降= decrease, 温(wēn) = temperature, is the short form for 温(wēn)度(dù)
